MELON
Ramafrut grows and markets two varieties of melon: the “Piel de sapo” variety, supplied year round and grown in Senegal, the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, and the Galia variety grown in Almeria and marketed in May and June.
Melons have small amounts of protein and contain fibre. They are rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins A (beta-carotene), B and C. They provide hydration for athletes and consumers in general thanks to their content in potassium, sodium and magnesium, amongst other properties. They are also suitable for older adults as they have a relatively mild taste. They are also suitable for diabetics as they have a lower sugar content than other fruit.
